Be A Balanced Christian.
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV)
Imbalance is lack of proportion, a loss of equilibrium attributable to a situation where some forces outweigh others. Imbalance is undesirable. Nature was created in balance. The solar system works in perfect balance. Balance is a law of nature.
Your life as a Christian must be in perfect balance too. A Christian must be in a tranquil state of equilibrium where everything about them is in its proper place and is being well maintained.
Man is three in one; spirit, soul and body, as we read in our opening verse: “...may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thess. 5:23). All three must be in perfect health, harmony and equilibrium.
You must take a good care of your spirit man. Let your spirit be so fit that she can handle the vicissitudes of life without buckling. To maintain your spiritual vitality you must study your Bible, be prayerful, fellowship with the brethren, fast, and feed on the spoken Word of God. If you commit yourself to these necessary spiritual exercises you will be spiritually vibrant.
As you attend to your spirit man, you ought not to forget the soul. The soul is the seat of your mind, will and emotions. Yield your mind to the work of renewal by the Word and the Spirit. Let your mind be focused on things heavenly. Rid your mind of carnal thinking which lead to death.
Keep your emotions in check. Don’t be ruled by how you feel because feelings, even though valuable are not a dependable guide. Moreover, do not let fear, anxiety, worry, anger, malice take a hold of your life. Keep your soul pure and free.
And lastly, your body is important too. Do not neglect your body. Make sure you eat healthy, look your best, smell fresh all the time, and glorify God in your body which is the Lord’s. When you are exhausted, rest well. Your body is the tabernacle of the Holy Spirit who lives in you, therefore don’t use your body as an instrument of sin.
Every area of your life must be equally vibrant. If you encounter a situation that requires spiritual solution, you must be spiritually fit enough to deal with it.
When wisdom is required, your mind must be thoroughly equipped to deliver wise and irresistible counsel.
If your situation needs finances, your life must produce it. It does not matter what comes your way, you must be balanced enough to face it with confidence and win.
PRAYER.
Father thank you for teaching me balance. Help me to be balanced in every area of my life, in Jesus Name. Amen.
