Be Prepared for Life's Storms
Acts 21:13 (NKJV)
Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Disaster is when tragedy meets an unprepared person. While we joyfully plan for weddings, birthdays, and moments of celebration, we must also prepare for life's inevitable storms. The Bible warns of an “evil day” for which we must be ready: “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm” (Ephesians 6:13).
To face spiritual battles—demonic attacks, offenses, or persecutions—we must equip ourselves with the full armor of God outlined in Ephesians 6: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit. This spiritual preparation ensures we remain steadfast.
Mental readiness is equally vital. While you may celebrate marriage amid joy and fanfare, you must also be prepared for challenges like barrenness, financial struggles, or unexpected setbacks.
Consider your faith: how would it hold if you lost your job or income? Are you mentally prepared for such trials? Reflect on the possibility of profound loss, as Job experienced when he lost all ten of his children in a single tragedy. How would you respond to the death of a loved one?
The Lord Jesus assures us, “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). No matter the challenge, we can trust in Christ’s victory. With this assurance, we can boldly face any storm, declaring, “Devil, bring your worst—I am ready!”
Prayer
I declare that no trouble shall overcome the righteous. Covered by the Lord’s protection, I stand firm, unshaken by the enemy’s attacks, secure in my position in Christ. Amen.
