Discerning The Lord's Body Part 1

| Spiry Tee

"Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep."
I Corinthians 11:27‭, ‬29‭-‬30 NKJV

The Father is very concerned about the weak, the sick and the dying among His children in the church. It is not His will and desire to see His kids without strength, constantly infirm or physically dying. At Corinth, believers were being harassed by the forces of nature because they were not doing what all of us must be doing: discerning the Lord's body.

"Discerning" means to separate thoroughly and in this case it is ability to thoroughly determine what the body and blood of the Lord represent. We should cease talking about the blood and body of the Lord casually. For many, the work of Christ on the cross has lost its meaning, and for some, it never had any significance because they did not understand what they were getting into.

The lack of understanding the cross has made the church weak morally, spiritually and in every way. The church that does not comprehend the power of the cross of Christ becomes a cancer even in society. She begins to champion causes that make no spiritual sense. It is for the same reason why we have believers today who can't seem to get healed no matter how many people prayed for them. They have lost the revelation of a body that received stripes so that we might live in health.

Paul said "many" were sick, weak and dead because they did not meditate on the cross. Beloved, if the church meditates on the finished work of Christ, she will see that the death that He died was not His but hers. The beatings he took was not for Himself but for our well being and health. Why should you die when your death was taken by Jesus? And why should you harbor infirmity when He took the beating for your health?

Let's bring back the gospel of the finished work of Christ in our churches and extinguish weakness, sickness and death. The Corinthian brothers and sisters behaved improperly and irreverently with regards to the communion because it was a manifestation of their lack of appreciation of the weight and blessings of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

SPEAK OUT
I choose from this day to discern the body of Christ and experience strength, health and life in Jesus' Name.
