Focus On Things Eternal
Psalms 119:37
“Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way.”
Man, because of the fall, is drawn to things that are earthly, temporal, and outrightly worthless.
Many people pursue goals that mean nothing, dreams inspired by lust, and purpose produced by terrestrial necessity.
As believers, we must be eternally focused on things eternal— things that last.
David prayed for help from God in this area. We need that grace too. Grace to turn our eyes away from worthless things.
One example of worthless things is money. Many of us spend unholy hours in pursuit of money. But hear what the Bible says about money:
“Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.” Proverbs 23:4-5 NKJV.
The question is “Why do you set your eyes upon that which is not?” Let your focus be on the kingdom that cannot be shaken— the heavenly kingdom.
Focus on winning souls into the kingdom of God. Soul winners will shine like stars forever.
Focus on serving, helping, supporting, and ministering to the Church of God. The ecclesia (church) shall be forever and the rewards of those labouring in the field of the church are eternal.
Beauty will fade away, money and wealth will vanish away, and the glory and fame of this world are fleeting realities. Lay hold on eternal life.
Prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, turn my eyes away from worthless things. Help me to be spiritually minded and doggedly focus on things eternal.
