I AM DISCIPLE OF JESUS: Not Job.

"Job answered God : “I’m convinced: You can do anything and everything. Nothing and no one can upset your plans. You asked, ‘Who is this muddying the water, ignorantly confusing the issue, second-guessing my purposes?’ I admit it. I was the one. I babbled on about things far beyond me, made small talk about wonders way over my head. You told me, ‘Listen, and let me do the talking. Let me ask the questions. You give the answers.’ I admit I once lived by rumors of you; now I have it all firsthand—from my own eyes and ears! I’m sorry—forgive me. I’ll never do that again, I promise! I’ll never again live on crusts of hearsay, crumbs of rumor.” (Job 42:1‭-‬6 MSG).

Job was commended by the Scriptures outside of the book of Job as a man who was patient in tribulation.  We are encouraged to embrace patient waiting when we're going through trials. It's a mature way of handling hardship knowing that it will all soon be over.

But Job himself is not the role model for the believer in Christ in many respects even though his story is very educative and insightful. Job did not even know God. He admitted it that all he heard about God was rumor until God stood before Him in the last chapters of his book.

Job's problems should not be your problems. Just because Job is in the Bible does not mean your life will or might become like Job's. You are not following Job but Jesus. Did Jesus experience what Job experienced?

Here is the difference between Job and Jesus: Job was fearful, Jesus was full of faith. Job was born of a woman, and confessed that his life was short and full of trouble but Jesus was born from above and declared that no one takes His life from Him. Jesus was above death, Job was beneath death.

The devil was on rampage in Job's home but Jesus cast out devils. Job was sick with boils in his body but Jesus was never sick. He healed those who were afflicted. A terrible wind from the desert killed Job's children but Jesus rebuked the wind and waves to protect His disciples.

Whose disciple are you? Jesus or Job? Whose life will you pattern yours after. The Lord Jesus said "Learn from Me", and not your favourite Biblical character including Job.

SPEAK OUT.
I am a disciple of Jesus and not of Job. I am like Jesus born from above, my life is full of goodness. Goodness and mercy follows at all times.
