"So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit."
John 19:30 NKJV
The Bible says that great is the mystery of godliness in that God was manifested in the flesh(1 Tim 3:16). Why would God want to be human like us? Love? Absolutely.
And for His love to be demonstrated, the law of redemption requires a close relative to be the redeemer. A redeemer is supposed to be a kinsman to buy back a person or property.
Mankind needed redemption because we sold ourselves under sin: "For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin." (Romans 7:14).
And because of His love, the Word became flesh in Christ and dwelt among us. He was in all points tempted as we are yet without sin.
And when the time was ripe, Jesus made the payment for our sins with His blood. We were purchased from the slavery of sin and the dominion of death. Now we are free.
Anyone who believes this message has passed from death to life, from sin to righteousness, from hell to heaven.
On that rugged cross Jesus cried out that it was finished. The debt was fully paid, the reign of sin and death had come to a screeching halt, and a new creation on the horizon.
Here we are today, our names scrapped from the death row. We have escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowler. Hallelujah!
Sin and death have no authority over me. I reign in life.
