"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus," Hebrews 3:1.
There is an high calling of God upon your life. There is a special destiny to which you have been called to partake. The Lord doesn't leave us in doubt about our calling and destiny: "God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself. And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end, gloriously completing what he had begun."
(Romans 8:29-30 MSG)
We have all been called to Christlikeness. God has purposed from the beginning to have our lives shaped and conformed to that of Jesus. This is a high calling to which we have been called and we must answer the call. Christlikeness now is not impossible because we have put off the old man who grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts and we have put on the new man who after God is created in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24). We are partakers of this heavenly calling. Our destiny is not earthly or natural, we have a divine destiny we must fulfill. Christlikeness means to think like Jesus, talk like Jesus and act as Jesus acts. That should be your ultimate goal.
Don't believe the lie that we can only become fully Christlike when we get to heaven. You are being defrauded of your inheritance. As He is so are you in this world. As He is healthy so are you. You must by faith refuse to get sick. As He is strong so are you. Reject weakness by faith. Jesus is sinless, so are you. Sin shall not have dominion over you because you are under grace. He that is born of God cannot sin for His seed remains in him. Jesus is full of grace and truth, so are you. Of His fullness you have received grace heaped upon grace. He conquered death so did you in Him. Stop talking yourself down and start fulfilling your heavenly calling of Christlikeness now.
I am called to Christlikeness now. As He is so am I in this world.
