STING OF DEATH IS SIN.
| Pastor Tee
“The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.” (1Co 15:56)
Have you ever wondered what the cause of death is? The Bible says through sin, death entered the world. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Rom 5:12) .
Seeing people dying and being buried six feet under had this unsettling feeling on me as a young boy. The hopelessness, despair, and myriad questions displayed on the countenance of the deceased’s loved ones always got to me. “Why did she die? What caused his death?” people would speculate; from witchcraft, to incurable diseases, and many other reasons.
People need to understand that death is a direct result of sin. Sin is coming short of God’s standard. When the first man ate the tree He was forbidden (Genesis 3), sin came into the world and as a result death spread on all men born after Adam. So when we say sin is the cause of death we are not only referring to individual sin, but also the original sin that was imparted into your genetic code from your mother’s womb.
Therefore it is not sickness, disease or accident that causes death but sin. When sin is dealt with, and taken away, what gives potency to death is removed making death powerless. And Jesus our Savior came so that our sin can be done away with through His death on the cross. His subsequent resurrection was proof that our sins have been eternally purged. To the believer in the finished work of Christ, death has no power. Death reigned because of sin but now those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).
SPEAK LIFE
I am the righteousness of God in Christ. I am not subject to death. The sting of death was nailed to the cross giving me immunity from the fury of death.
