Take Your Worship Seriously.
"You say, ‘It’s too hard to serve the LORD,’ and you turn up your noses at my commands,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. “Think of it! Animals that are stolen and crippled and sick are being presented as offerings! Should I accept from you such offerings as these?” asks the LORD. Cursed is the cheat who promises to give a fine ram from his flock but then sacrifices a defective one to the Lord. For I am a great king,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “and my name is feared among the nations!" Malachi 1:13-14 (NLT)
When dealing with God, your approach should not be a careless and unthinking one. God is a great King. There is a way you approach or converse with a King. An attitude of high regard must envelop everything you do for Him. Your worship of God Almighty must be filled with honor and reverence for His Person and Majesty.
The people of Israel once became too familiar with God and started treating the worship of God as a common thing. They stopped attributing value to their offerings and sacrifices. Instead of giving God the best, they started giving God what they did not need. They brought to the altar of the great King stolen, sick, and crippled animals. What a sacrilege!
Sadly, that is how some Christians are relating with God today. They are giving God what they themselves do not need. They give God time they do not need. Some give their youth and strength to the world and its lusts, and only turn to God in surrender when they don’t have any strength left.
Some give God money that can’t buy breakfast for one person, not because they do not have the money but because they think giving too much money in the house of God is a waste. They would rather use it on some “worthy causes”. Beloved, do not be deceived, God is a great King and there is nothing too good for Him. He deserves the best.
Take attending church seriously, whether it’s Sunday service, prayer meetings, life group meetings and many other faith-building programs. When you sing and praise, do it with all your heart and strength. When you give your offerings, seeds, partnerships, or tithes, give only your very best. Remember that you are doing it for the Monarch of the Universe, He who rules out of Zion.
Do not offer to God that which costs you nothing. King David understood that very clearly in 2 Samuel 24:24 (NLT), “But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the LORD my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.”
Prayer
Lord, I pray that I will not lose my wonder of You. May my worship and service be of highest quality, and be acceptable to You at all times, in Jesus name. Amen.
