The Apostles' Doctrine: Christ.

| Spiry Tee

"But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;"
1 Corinthians 1:23

It is sad that we have whole ministries and movements founded upon a verse, a catchy phrase, or statement not on Christ. The apostles let us know that the only foundation laid for life and ministry is Christ Jesus. "For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." (I Corinthians 3:11 NKJV). Ministry built on spiritual gifts and not Christ will miss the mark sooner or later. Christ is the true north.

The early church continued steadfastly in the "apostles' doctrine" (Acts 2:42). What was their doctrine? Christ Jesus! Crucified Christ who became the resurrected Christ. They had no other message. There is no new message. There is no fresh revelation that is from God other than that of His Son. I like what Andrew Selley said at a Four 12 Lead Elders Advance Conference recently. He said "God is not interested in our movement, He is interested in His Son". So much truth in one phrase. [Andrew Selley is the leader of the Four 12 Global, a partnership of churches]

Never come to a place where you think that your denomination, ministry, leader or church is more important than the reason it was established for, which is to advance the glorious gospel of God's Son, Jesus Christ. That is what the early church did, "And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ." (Acts 5:42 NKJV).

When we preach Christ like the apostles did, power of the Holy Spirit will flow because the Holy Spirit only promotes and confirms like a witness, One person, and His name is Jesus Christ. Our churches are dry when Christ is outside knocking. Lukewarmness in the church is a sign that Jesus has been ignored and placed on the sidelines. But Jesus will never run the peripherals of the church where you want Him when He is the reason the church exists in the first place.

Do we want life in the church? Do we want to see signs and wonders? Do we want to see death kept at bay? Let Jesus be the center of your church agenda. Let Him shape your sermons and organize every activity around Him. He is the life of the church corporately and individually. He wants to be Lord of all because He wants you enjoy His life in every area of your life. He wants to be the life of your spirit, soul, and body. He wants to be health in your navel and strength for your ankles. He desires to be your fountain of youth, joy, and peace.

SPEAK OUT.
I declare today that Christ is the centre of my very existence for He the reason why I am alive. Everything I do is for Him and through Him. He is the life of my spirit, soul, and body.
