The Apostles' Doctrine: Life And Immortality

| Spiry Tee

"But has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,"
II Timothy 1:10 NKJV

We must continue steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine. Sadly, I see that many have put down parts of the gospel the apostles preached either because they don't like those parts or don't understand them at all. I do not understand the liking part because I believe there shouldn't be any part of the gospel we dislike. If you are a messenger you have no choice but to deliver the whole counsel of God.

And when we do not understand any part of the gospel we must be humble enough to accept it like what Peter said of Paul's writings, "As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures." (II Peter 3:16 NKJV). There are hard parts of the Scriptures we must not ignore.

One of the portions of gospel that has been neglected is the truth that Jesus has abolished death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. Death has been annulled, put to an end, abolished and rendered of no effect. How many people are preaching this today. Jesus did not just abolish death, He also brought life and immortality to light. What does this mean for us?

It means life and immortality has been made available to all through the gospel of Jesus Christ. People can actually have life and immortality through faith in Jesus. The life he is talking about is the life of God; it is life as God has it- the God-kind of life. Immortality means not subject to death. It comes from the Greek word "aphtharsia" which means unending existence.

Jesus did not just die for our sins, He abolished death and gave us the Godkind of life with unending existence. This is the gospel my friend. It is available now. Sin, satan, death exist but they were condemned, paralyzed, and abolished in Christ respectively.

According to historians, John the apostle was fried in boiling oil and did not die. They tried to kill him using many methods and they failed. They surrendered and banished him to an Island called Patmos where he wrote the book of Revelation and sent it to the seven churches in Asia. What did He know that made him defy death at every turn?

Here is what John knew that the church has ignored, "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." (I John 5:11‭-‬13 NKJV).

Beloved, God has given us the life of God. A life of unending existence; an incorruptible life. A life that has everything, joy, peace, love, provision in abundance, protection, safety, health, communion, fellowship, companionship just to mention a few.

Life in Christ is a call to a life of bliss. That is why we must preach this message of the gospel to the ends of the earth with boldness and fervency. It's urgent because people are dying when God has made provision for them to have life in Christ Jesus for free. All they need to do is believe.

SPEAK LIFE
I have access to life and immortality in Christ. Death has been abolished by Jesus. I declare that my spirit, soul, and body shall experience divine health, divine life, and divine provision consistently and forever.
