The Everlasting Covenant.

"Now may the God who brought us peace by raising from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ so that he would be the Great Shepherd of his flock; and by the power of the blood of the eternal covenant may he work perfection into every part of you giving you all that you need to fulfill your destiny. And may he express through you all that is excellent and pleasing to him through your life-union with Jesus the Anointed One who is to receive all glory forever! Amen!"
(Hebrews 13:20-21 The Passion Translation)
The blood of bulls and goats had no potency to make those who approach God perfect. But Jesus through the power of His blood which ratified the everlasting covenant can work perfection in every part of our lives.
The blood of Jesus cut the new covenant. The word "covenant" is very deep for many Christians but I will explain what it means for us in the New Testament.
The word covenant primarily signifies a disposition of property by will or otherwise. In its use in the Septuagint (Greek version of the Old Testament), it is a rendering of a Hebrew word meaning agreement.
But in contradistinction to the English word "covenant" (which literally means a "coming together") which signifies a mutual undertaking between two parties or more, each binding himself to fulfill obligations, it does not in itself contain the idea of joint obligation, it mostly signifies an obligation undertaken by a single person.
Many people mistakenly say that we have an obligation to fulfill in the New Covenant. That is a misunderstanding of the word. There is nothing that suggest that we have an obligation to meet the demands of the new covenant.
God undertook all the obligations of the covenant and called us to enjoy it. The new covenant is not conditional on our fulfilling any part of the contract. The covenant was God's way of assuring us that what He promised He will do and in this case He has done.
And the covenant He cut for us in Christ is forever. It was once and for all time. This covenant makes walking in perfection possible. It was not possible to be perfect under the old covenant but it is now in the new testament because of the blood of the everlasting covenant
This is the covenant that guarantees life eternal. God promised us life in Christ and made the promise sure through the blood of the everlasting covenant. God who cannot lie made a covenant in Christ so that by two unchangeable things (God's Word and the blood covenant) we might have unshakable hope. We have faith in the covenant.
SPEAK OUT.
God gave me the promise of life in Christ Jesus and guaranteed it with an everlasting blood covenant.
