The Gift Within The Gift: Holy Spirit.
| Spiry Tee
"Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:38.
The religion in Christianity has relegated the Holy Spirit to the background and fooled some people that they can live an authentic Christian life without the Holy Spirit. Well, Jesus disagrees. Before His departure, the Lord instructed the disciples never to move an inch into the gospel mission until they were "indued with power from on High" (Luke 24:49). Jesus had waited with so much zeal for the day the Holy Spirit will be poured out. For Him, it was a fire to be kindled and was exhilarated to have the promise fulfilled after He finished the works of redemption.
The saints of old prophetically viewed these days we live in with "godly jealousy" but the time was not yet come because Jesus was to come, die and be glorified. Now we are in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. Receiving the Holy Spirit is compulsory for every believer who is not interested in religion but wants to live the real Christian life. We are called to a victorious life that is only possible through the Holy Spirit. To not know the Holy Spirit is lose unquantifiable volumes of divine blessings.
Every part of your faith is made possible by the Holy Spirit. The new birth happens because of the Holy Spirit. Your witnessing to others is fruitless without the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth and how will you be guided through the Scriptures without the Holy Spirit. Jesus said believers will be seen speaking in new tongues, taking up serpents, casting out devils, healing the sick by laying hands on them. This can only be possible when we are endued with power of the Holy Spirit from above.
Your prayer life goes nowhere without the Holy Spirit. We do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be expressed in articulate speech (Romans 8:26). This same Holy Spirit who breathes life into our churches and personal lives, is also the life of our spirits, souls and bodies. Through the Spirit our bodies are vitalized and strengthened; our mind is made sound and our understanding is enlightened. Like a police officer the Spirit perambulates our being fixing problems and defiencies in our whole being. He is the one that makes real the eternal life we received in Christ. Elihu was right, "The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life." (Job 33:4). He is the breath of the Almighty that can breathe life into your singleness, marriage, family and ministry. Receive ye the Holy Ghost!
SPEAK OUT.
The Holy Spirit is the life of my body, soul and spirit. He is the breath of the Almighty that gives me life.
