The Gifts Within The Gift: Righteousness.

| Spiry Tee.

"For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)"

Romans 5:17 NKJV.

Reigning in life! Sounds good. Do you want to reign in life? Only those who receive the superfluous grace of God lavished on us in Christ, together with God's gift of righteousness. Wait, so righteousness is a gift? I grew up knowing that your righteousness was equal to the righteous works you do for God. I used to think "more good works, more righteousness". I am not playing down the fact that good works are profitable to man but God's righteousness cannot be attained through good works.

God's standard is so lofty that even in our best state of righteousness we are altogether like an unclean thing (Isaiah 64:6). There is none righteous by works, no,  not one. No flesh shall be justified in His sight by works.  That is why God committed a scandal of grace so that a sinner can finally stand in the place of the Savior who bled and died without fault of His own. It was all for us. That gruesome death offered us something we could never ever attain by ourselves- righteousness. "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (II Corinthians 5:21 ).

When you understand that you are  now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, you will not struggle to live and please God. You will be operating from a position of acceptance not a position of trying to be accepted.  You will be walking with the spirit of sonship not of a slave. You will know that whenever you fall, you don't fall out of favor but you fall into grace not from grace. This a great blessing. The struggle is over and rest has come. Your righteousness-conscious soul is home in God.

This righteousness gives us access to something even greater. "So that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 5:21). One man's sin brought death to everyone but one Man's righteousness brought eternal life to everyone who believes in Him. And those who receive the abundance of grace Jesus gives and His gift of righteousness will reign as kings over death.

SPEAK OUT
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and I reign with Him in the realm of life.
