THE GREAT MYSTERY: God Manifested In The Flesh
Spiry Tee
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh..." I Timothy 3:16 NKJV.
When the Bible in our opening scripture talks about "godliness" (Greek: eusebeia), it means the gospel scheme, or our Christian life or faith. The mystery of the Christian faith is great. A mystery (Greek: musterion) as used in the New Testament denotes that which being outside the range of unassisted natural apprehension, can be made known only by Divine revelation, and is made known in a manner and at a time appointed by God, and to those only who are illumined by His Spirit(Vine's).
The great mystery of our faith opens by saying "God was manifested in the flesh". Wow! We know that in the flesh dwelt no good thing. We understand that the sinful nature was connected to the flesh. Yet God chose to come in the likeness of sinful flesh and on account of sin to condemn sin in the flesh(Romans 8:3). Who could imagine that if not by revelation? God wanted to demonstrate to the heavens and the earth that man could live in the flesh He made without sin. He was in all points tempted as we are and yet without sin.
God in the flesh wanted to make known to us that the body of man was designed to carry God and that the Godlife can be lived here on earth. God in the flesh (Jesus) walked the streets of Judea and Jerusalem and never in the record we have in the Bible was He sick of a slightest fever. With the same body we have, He touched people with contagious diseases and did not contract them, He rather healed them. This is the Christian life. In the believer is where heaven and earth meets, where God and man are fused, and where immortality amalgamate with mortality. It is a new creature indeed.
They tried to assassinate God in the flesh before He was ready but they couldn't. He would walk through the crowd and go His way. Even when the hour of darkness came, they came to arrest Him in the garden of Gethsemane; He asked "Whom do you seek?" when they said "Jesus of Nazareth", they all staggered backwards and fell down and didn't know what hit them. He had power to summon twelve legion of angels to deliver Him but He said "How then will the scriptures be fulfilled". So Jesus was not killed, He claimed, "No one takes it from me. I lay it down of my own free will. I have the right to lay it down; I also have the right to take it up again. I received this authority personally from my Father.” (John 10:17-18 MSG). So is the man in Christ.
SPEAK OUT.
The Godlife is coursing through my veins.
