THE GREAT MYSTERY: God Was Justified In The Spirit
Spiry Tee.
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was....Justified in the Spirit,..." I Timothy 3:16 NKJV.
During His trial on earth, "God in flesh" (Jesus) was dragged from one court house to another, the Jewish religious elite were hell bent on having him convicted. They marshalled false witnesses to strengthen their cases but none of the witnesses' testimonies agreed. The sham trial ended up at the supreme court of Pontius Pilate who found no fault in Him but His adversaries piled political pressure on Pilate until he gave in to their request to convict Jesus and sentence Him to death by crucifixion.
So in the eyes of an ordinary person Jesus is a convicted sinner, a pervert and an imposter. The long arm of the law finally caught up with Him. Surely the "troublemaker" was silenced. Six hours on the cross Jesus gave up His Spirit. But something spectacular happened during His final moments on the cross, the rocks began to split, the earth trembled, the thick veil in the temple was torn in two and the graves of the saints were opened. What's happening?
Jesus was condemned in the flesh but justified in the Spirit. Now death and the grave were holding a soul that never sinned, earth was drunk with the blood of the sinless One. The earth, like a drunken man, staggered and opened all the graves of the saints confused as to who the sinless One was. The foundations of the earth were shaken; a scandal of eternal proportions had taken place. It was the third day here when Jesus rose triumphantly but it was as soon as the heavenly court of justice had adjoined in the timeless zone of the Spirit. When the court was seated, Jesus was acquitted, the judgement was issued: they had condemned the guiltless and He must be released.
And when He was justified, we were all justified in Him. He didn't just die for us, He died as us. When He died we died. When He was declared not guilty we were in Him declared not guilty. Our sins and our iniquities the Chief Justice remembers no more. Now legally speaking, the penalty for our sins, which is death, cannot stand in God's court of law because the price was paid, the blood was accepted as a worthy sacrifice, and those appointed to die have been freed. Praise God.
SPEAK OUT.
When Jesus was justified I was justified, the penalty of my sins cannot stand anymore.
