"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory." I Timothy 3:16 NKJV
One of the most revolutionary statements I have ever heard was uttered by revolutionary ambassadors of Christ by the names of apostles Paul and Barnabas during their address to the Jews in Antioch in Pisidia; "Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. (Acts 13:46). Did you hear that? You know if you grew up with a plethora of Christian television stations on your satellite connection it might be difficult for you to comprehend that it was unthinkable "that the Gentiles (a people of non-Jewish origin) should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel" (Ephesians 3:6).
Jews and Gentiles were religious enemies that found peace and coexistence in the body of Christ. Before Christ, they couldn't do the least together like eating not to mention becoming "brethren". That is why Paul said this mystery of godliness is so great that the gospel of Jesus Christ found a place for the Gentiles. Now the Gentiles have access to the Father in heaven by the same Spirit the Jews received on the day of Pentecost. The Gentiles can now attain the priesthood of Melchizedek which is according to the power of an endless life(Hebrews 7:16). The very ones who were called unclean have been mercifully granted repentance to life: "When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.” (Acts 11:18).
Awesome is the grace of God! Those who sat in darkness and the shadow of death have seen a great light. We were aliens and strangers from the commonwealth of Israel. We were not allowed to come near the temple in Jerusalem or else we would defile it but now we don't have to go to the temple, we are the temple of God. This is revolutionary! God lives is us, walks in us and has become our God too. Moreover, today we can boldly declare that through Christ we are children of Abraham and heirs according to the promise. The promise of life eternal is ours too. God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. The Gentiles who have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior have this endless, God-life. Hallelujah!
I was far away from God but now I have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
