The Seven Horns Of The Lamb Part 3: Absolute Power Over The Flesh.
| Spiry Tee
"And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth."
(Revelation 5:6 NASB+)
One of the greatest miracles recorded for us in the Bible is God becoming flesh. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:1, 14 NKJV).
No one had seen God at anytime, then God chose to manifest in human flesh. The flesh that was susceptible to sin, hunger, pain and death. The body was created beautiful, powerful and strong to the glory of God. It was meant to house the presence of God and be His headquarters in the earth until corruption came.
When it was corrupted by sin, it's nature was deformed and sin built it's nature in the flesh. There is a carnality that is in the human soul that doesn't need anyone to teach. Selfishness, pride and disobedience are part of the unregenerated human nature.
Jesus was born in a body like ours. Could get hungry like us, get cold and feel heat. He was subjected to all kinds of temptations. "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." (Hebrews 4:15 KJV).
Though tempted, Jesus never succumbed to sin. He actually destroyed sin in the flesh. "For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." (Romans 8:3-4 NKJV).
When He defeated sin in the flesh, the Lord Jesus did it for us. By His power and grace, our flesh can not dominate any longer. He defeated the flesh so that we can walk in the Spirit. Being born again, we don't live in the flesh anymore. "So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His." (Romans 8:8-9 NKJV).
Pleasing God while walking in the flesh is impossible because it is impossible to walk by faith in the flesh. And as we walk in the Spirit, we live. "Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." (Romans 8:12-14 NKJV).
The works of the flesh are silenced as we walk in and live by the Spirit. "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." (Galatians 5:16 NKJV).
What are the works of the flesh? "Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV).
As we walk in the Spirit because we have put to death the deeds of the body, we see the fruit of the Spirit, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." (Galatians 5:22-25 NKJV).
SPEAK LIFE.
I walk in and by the Spirit. And through the Spirit I mortify the deeds of the body so that I can live in Jesus' Name.
