The Seven 'I Am' Statements Of Jesus Part 5: I Am The Good Shepherd.

"I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep."
John 10:11 AMPC
A sheep that finds itself worried about tomorrow, stressed about what he will eat, drink or wear is the sheep without a good shepherd. When a caring shepherd is watching over you, there is nothing to fret about because He knows where the pasture is for you today and days to come.
Many Christians live as though they don't have a GOOD Shepherd, the One who cares deeply for their wellbeing. They are stressed out about things they should not worry about. They carry burdens which are the responsibility of the Shepherd.
The Lord Jesus is our Shepherd. He loves us too much to lay down His life for us. He was not hired by anyone to take care of us, He shepherds us as His own because we are. He is not doing it for pay, we belong to Him and He loves us so dearly.
Listen to the passion with which He loves us in verse 28-29 of John 10, "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages. [To all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed.] And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand. My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all [else]; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father's hand. (John 10:28-29 AMPC).
He gives us eternal life and nothing shall be able to kill or destroy us. We have double security, in His hands and the Father's. Jesus is our good Shepherd and we shall not want. He leads us beside the waters of quietness for our peace. He refreshes our soul. He leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. We will not walk in the shadow of death because He is our light of life.
He anointed us with His Holy Spirit and we are filled to the brim. His voice comforts us as He gives us direction and the assurance of salvation. As a result of His leadership and care, goodness and mercy shall follows us at all times and we will settle down in the house of God forever knowing that we have arrived and our search has ended.
SPEAK LIFE.
The Lord Jesus is my Good Shepherd who has given me everything I need. By His grace I received eternal life and according to His Word I shall never perish. I am eternally secure in His and the Father's hand.
