The Seven 'I Am' Statements Of Jesus Part 7: I Am The Light Of The World.

"Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”"
John 8:12 NKJV

In the Old Testament, even though the presence of God was with them, the saints of God were walking under the shadow of death. David made it clear, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." (Psalms 23:4 NKJV).

A shadow is formed when an object blocks the light. You only walk in a shadow of something that is standing between you and the light. In the case of David, He was walking in the shadow of death. Death was the one between him and the light. To live under the shadow of death means to live under the dominion of death.

But the Lord Jesus came and He "...abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel," (II Timothy 1:10 NKJV). Zechariah in prophecy said the same thing, "Through the tender mercy of our God, With which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.” (Luke 1:78‭-‬79 NKJV).

They were sitting in darkness and the shadow of death but Jesus who is the Dayspring from on High visited them to give them light. And He told that everyone who follows Jesus shall not walk in darkness or shadow of death but shall have the light of life.

Death has no dominion over you. The curse of death was annulled in Christ. You have life in Christ. Death means poverty, lack, hardship, sickness or disease but light represents prosperity, abundance, hope, health and life. It is a new day for the Dayspring from on high has shifted your life's paradigm.

I am walking in the light of life. Christ is my  light and life.
