These Three: Spirit, Soul, And Body

"Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
I Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV

Man is created in the image and likeness of God. We know that God is a triune God (three in one), so is man. God is Father, Word and Spirit; man is spirit, soul and body. The threes are one. Man is not complete without one of the three.

Some have said man is a spirit with a soul and lives in a body. Well, that expression is not in the Bible.  The spirit is called the spirit of man. Question, who is the man? The soul is called, the soul of man. Again, who is the man then. The body is also referred to as the body of man.  Who is this man. This man like God is also a mystery. But the Bible is clear that he is spirit, soul and body- a triune being.

When death happens, the triune disintegrates and separates.  The body fails and decomposes, the soul which is earthly conciousness, ceases for the spirit goes back to God who gave it. But God has made provision for the reintegration of man by promising resurrection. Resurrection is when the spirit and the body come together again. If man was only a Spirit, the resurrection will be unnecessary because the resurrection is for the body not the spirit for the spirit dies not.

Religion that disregards the life of the body is not from God. Apostle Paul prayed that your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless until the coming of the Lord. John prayed that you may prosper and be in health physically just as you are enjoying health and prosperity in your soul. Mental, spiritual and physical health are important to God. Don't neglect any part of who you are. Cherish your spirit, soul, and body. They are  gift from God.

I am a triune being just like God. My spirit, soul and body are equally important.  Just as there is no junior God in the Godhead, none of my nature is inferior to another because I can only be fully human if my spirit, soul and body.
