Why We Do What We Do: Preach The Gospel.

| Spiry Tee

"And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
Mark 16:15 NKJV

When we preach the gospel some people think it's a waste of precious time. "What's the deal?" they wonder. Such people believe that preaching is for those who have nothing else to do.

What they do not realize is that the power of the Lord to save is released only through the agency of preaching. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek." (Romans 1:16 NKJV).

People can only believe after they hear, and hearing only comes from preaching the gospel. "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:14 NKJV).

If you have been preaching the gospel, you are doing what I believe is the most important job on the planet. If any other job was as important, Jesus wouldn't have spent His life preaching. But far away from all the lustrous careers on the planet, Jesus became a soul winner. The beautiful thing is that nomatter the career path you choose, soul winning can be at the center of it.

Imagine starting a surgery and making it your preaching outpost. Every patient that comes to your practice having a chance to hear the gospel from you. Or as a teacher, your pupils and colleagues becoming the recipients of the glorious message of Jesus Christ. Think about it.

We are all sent to preach the gospel in our environs. Take your workplace or school as your mission field. If you are at home, your immediate and extended family can be your mission field. Your social media handles should be dedicated to sharing life in the gospel.

We are made like unto the Lord from heaven who became a life giving Spirit.  We are life givers. "And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit." (I Corinthians 15:45 NKJV). We give life as we preach the gospel of Christ, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63 NKJV). You are a life distributor, answer the call. Tell someone about Jesus today.

I am a life distributor. As I preach the gospel, I am sharing the life of God in Christ.  This is my calling, my task and my assignment on earth.
