Wisdom For Relationships (2)

"God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land."
Psalms 68:6 NLT

The second most important relationship after your relationship with God is your relationship with your church.

Some Christians have relationships with their local church that range from abnormal to abusive. The root cause of a bad relationship with the church is a misunderstanding of what the church truly is.

The church is the body of Christ to which everyone who is born again belongs. It must be emphasized that the church is not a place we go to but a body we belong to.

Being a church goer makes you a customer. It is not different from going to KFC or McDonald's food joints. With too much consumerism in our generation, we must be careful never to treat the church as a business that must meet our needs.

Your local church is a family you belong to and you ought to relate to her as such. Armed with this understanding, church services become family meetings to which you will naturally feel obliged to participate because family is important for our well-being all round.
