You Were Washed.

"And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."
I Corinthians 6:11 NKJV

Saint John the revelator, in his message to the seven churches in Asia minor, wrote, "And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood," (Revelation 1:5 NKJV).

He washed us from our sins because He loved us. The gospel of Jesus Christ is about the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus shed His blood on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. Blood was necessary because without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.

Apostle Paul to the Corinthian church wrote a letter and in it reminded them that they were washed from their sins both small and great. Their faith in Jesus Christ and the baptism of the Holy Spirit purified them.

It is wonderful to feel clean after shower, but what happens if a believer sins again after they have been washed? Saint John answers, "My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world."
(I John 2:1‭-‬2 NKJV).

We have a defence Lawyer on the side of the Father. His blood continues to speak on our behalf. The blood of Jesus keeps washing us from our sins as we walk in the light. "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (I John 1:7 NKJV)

Sin like dust has a tendency of fastening itself on us but the blood is still fresh and wipes all our mistakes away. How good is our God! It was sin that brought death, but now we say to sin, "where is your victory?" If sin has lost its hold through the blood of the everlasting covenant, death has lost it's grip on you. The law of the Spirit of life has made you free from the law of sin and death.

I am washed from all my sins by the blood of Jesus. Nothing stands between me and God. Since my sin was taken away, my death was as a result also taken away.
